Thank you for your interest in attending the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy Nicolae Testemiţanu of the Republic of Moldova (USMF).  With great delight we would like to announce that the dental school has been granted full approval by the Dental Board of California. (Please see USMF approval letter by the Dental Board of California).

For the foreign dentist holding a degree from a dental school recognized by the World Health Organization, it gives us even greater pleasure to inform you that the USMF’s 2-year IDP program has been found to be in compliance by the Dental Board of California. USMF’s International Dental Program (IDP) is taught entirely in English.

 

What are the advantages of studying in our fully approved IDP program in Moldova?

  1. No need to travel out of the country to determine your admittance.
  2. All interviews and assessments are completed by a visiting USMF committee in Encino, California.
  3. The program is taught in English.
  4. While in school and doing rotations you will be trained for the required Western Regional Examination Board (WREB) clinical examination and Law & Ethics.
  5. Apply for a a license to practice in California after the completion of the USMF International dental program. You must have passed all DBC required exams, which at present are the National Dental Board Exams (NDB) Part 1 and Part 2, the Western Regional Board (WREB) and Law & Ethics. Most students will complete all these exams by the end of the second year of the program.
  6. You will have a rich and exciting experience of living in Europe, traveling and learning new cultures.
  7. You will save money, as tuition and living expenses in Europe are much lower.

2-Year International Dental Program (IDP) Requirements:

  • Program Duration: two academic years. (Four consecutive Academic Semesters)
  • Minimum Education Level Required to Apply:  Dental degree from a foreign dental school recognized by the World Health Organization
  • Program Language: English. Applicants must demonstrate an acceptable speaking and reading knowledge of English

Applicant’s Document Requirements

Please make sure all the documents are designated only with the name on your valid passport.

The following materials must be submitted to the University of Moldova.US for USMF use:

  1. A completed Application Form for the USMF International Dental Program (IDP) in English fully approved by the Dental  Board of California
  2. A notarized copy of the dental diploma authenticated by an Apostille from the country where the diploma was originally issued
  3. A copy of Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) Report
  4. A certified copy of the birth certificate
  5. A copy of the passport. The passport must be valid for a period of not less than one year from the program start date
  6. A Criminal Background check by a Federal government agency of the applicant’s country of residency, endorsed with an Apostille by Department of State. The applicant must have a clean criminal record. The Criminal Background Check submitted can not be older than 6 month. For citizens or residents of the United States please see “Criminal Background check for US residents” section below.  Upon acceptance, an updated Criminal Background Check not older than two month from the program start date will need to be taken to Moldova with all the other original documents
  7. A recent bank statement proving that sufficient funds (at least $7,000) are available for living expenses
  8. A letter on a Physician’s letterhead confirming that the applicant does not suffer from any communicable diseases that may pose a threat to public health. The Physician’s letter can not be older that 6 month at the program start date. This medical certificate shall also state the applicant’s AB0 blood type (including Rh factor). Please attach vaccination record.  Here is a sample medical certification form as a Word file
  9. 10 European passport size, non-glossy pictures (3 x 4 cm) on a white background
  10. A completed and signed Declaration Form
  11. If the applicant is married, a notarized copy of the Marriage certificate
  12. If the applicant graduated from a high school outside of the United States, verification of English proficiency is required
  13. When applicable, any other diploma confirming college or university education, endorsed with an Apostille
  14. If available, proof of passing NBD Part 1, NDB Part 2 and TOEFL ;
  15. Letters of recommendation
  16. Application fee – $155.00

IMPORTANT:

  • All documents must be in English or have notarized English translations. Please be aware each document needs to be notarized separately.
  • All the materials shall be submitted to umusa.org@gmail.com for USMF. Each document shall be scanned separately into PDF format and attached as a separate file.  Each file name shall consist of the Applicant’s Last, First Name_Type of document (Example: << Smith, John _Application Form>>). Use only the name on your valid passport.
  • Application fee shall be paid by check, payable to the University of Moldova.US and mailed to:

    To ensure credit to the correct account, please mark the memo area of the check with the applicant’s name and designate as an application fee (Example: << Smith, John _Application Fee>>).
  • Applicant must submit original hard copies of electronically submitted documents upon request. Once accepted, all originals must be brought to Moldova as well.

Upon receipt and review of your application, you will be scheduled for an admission examination. An interview will also be conducted.

Additional Requirements

Letters of recommendation:

The applicant must submit one current letter of recommendation from each of the following individuals:

  1. The dean or faculty member of the applicant’s dental school
    (If you are not able to obtain a letter of recommendation, then you may use a verification letter from your dental school. The verification letter shall state the dates of your enrollment and graduation from the dental program and the dental degree received)
  2. A dental school clinical instructor who is able to ascertain the applicant’s professional and dental aptitude
  3. A personal reference from a person of the applicant’s choosing, preferably a colleague with whom the applicant has worked with or went to school with.

Educational Credential Evaluators (https://www.ece.org/ECE) Course-by-Course Report:

  • All IDP applicants are required to have their transcripts translated and then evaluated by the Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE)
  • Only post-secondary (University) level studies need to be evaluated
  • The report must include a comprehensive grade average
  • When you receive your copy, please scan and include it with the USMF required documents
  • The applicant will need to request on the ECE application that they would like to have his/her name to be included on outside of the envelope and the evaluation to be sent directly to:

Criminal Background check for US residents:

  1. A criminal background check can be obtained by Requesting FBI Records. An easier way through this process is by using “FBI-Approved Channelers”. Here is the list of FBI-Approved Agencies who can help with both the finger prints and the background check.
  2. Please Apostille FBI Record by the U.S. Department of State. Faster service is available through third party vendors.
  3. Upon arrival to Moldova, original Apostille needs to be translated and notarized for a “long stay visa for study”.
